Currently waiting in the newly refurbished EK lounge at CDG for my flight to DXB (EK76).
This is the first time I have flown on EK 380. Pretty excited and it will be interesting to compare EK J class product with QF. I have been allocated 7K.

EK has really impressed me firstly with the limo pick-up, ease of check-in, breezing through immigration and security (ok credit for that should go to CDG and Aeroports De Paris), and the EK lounge is bright and spacious. You can tell it's new with the smell of leather. Only criticism is that there is only 2 showers and there is no toilet or basin within the shower cube (you have to come out to the main area for these facilities). Food and beverage selection is great too (unfortunately I have an upset stomach so won't be indulging much tonight - I think the French food has been too rich for me).

I will post the verdict when I get to DXB. I have a couple of hours wait before my next flight on EK406 (couldn't get J seat on QF10).

Does anyone know if you get Pj's in EK J class? I could not see this information on their website. I brought my QF jarmies along in case.

Have arrived in DXB.
Flight was pretty amazing considering I received an upgrade to first (seat 3E).
The EK first suites are very luxurious and the service cannot be faulted.
Meals were ok - appetiser plate of skewered lamb, lobster spring rolls and a tomato tart; followed by caviar and a glass of Dom; next was tomato consommé; main was a roasted chicken breast; lastly dessert was a chocolate cake. Having experienced QF first previously I think QF might have a slight edge over EK when it comes to food.
The flat sleeper bed was also nice, especially having the privacy doors to enclose the suite, but again I think QF bedding in first is more comfortable with the woollen under blanket and feather duvet.
But the ultimate experience on this flight was having a shower before landing. The shower has a 5 minute limit but was enough to freshen up.

Now I'm having breakfast in the EK first lounge waiting for my next flight home to MEL on EK406.
What are the chances of getting another upgrade? Probably next to none. In any case I had a fabulous first experience on an EK 380. I guess I will get a chance to road test J class on the next flight. I'll post an update of that flight when I get home.

Good stuff on the op up. Are you status pax? Was the flight full?
