Heading to NZ later this year, decided I'd go via CHC and blow some QF points on EK A380 F.

I have never travelled in F before, indeed, until this year I hadn't tried international J, and the highest status I've had is PS...

If you are travelling out of SYD, allow enough time to enjoy the (QF) F lounge. 3-4 hours should do it.

Oh, apparently the plane has a shower!

I am travelling out of SYD, alas the daily SYD-CHC service is the only EK trans-Tasman service left and it departs at 0845 - I'm going to try and be there as early as I can but I have limits :)

Are you returning in F? That will be the better flight but not lounge experience. We did the Syd Alk return when it was running. Breakfast in the Syd F lounge, no amenities kits for the short flight & no shower going over but the alcohol is good & you can get back to the J bar for the experience. The return flight in the late afternoon was a good meal & offered a shower where you get an amenities kit but no PJs. You've got to have the shower.

Sadly not, I'm returning in Y on SQ from WLG... Having never seen the SYD Flounge I am looking forward to that though!

Enjoy a nice breakfast in the SYD Flounge and then once onboard sample some Dom Perignon :D For the return trip I would take a sleeping pill because you will be beside yourself after having flown F ;) Enjoy and make sure you report back on your experience.
