So would like to front up at a Lounge waving my shiny new Gold card and full of confidence., but actually am a little shy and instead feel nervous . Would help if I knew which ones I can use .
I fly From Cairns to Brisbane Sydney and Melbourne, usually just domestic.

Actually flew from Cairns to Brisbane last fortnight but I wasn't sure where or what so didn't use either!

Also the dress standards is smart casual acceptable ? The photos online make it look like everyone is wearing suited business attire ,, and if that's the case I'm definitely going to feel out of place !

Thanks for any advice

I'm guessing the VA lounge is the most obvious answer ( unless you're not flying with VA).
I have little or no experience with VA , but smart casual is the go in QF lounges.

Also you shouldn't need to wave your card (unless you really want too :)) your status will be shown on your boarding pass, which you or the lounge attendants will need to scan to get entry.

Smart casual is fine, although there is no actual dress code - shorts, thongs and t-shirts seemed to be the go last time I was in the Brisbane lounge. But you will find that most of the corporate types are either in smart casual or business attire.

Welcome to the status club!!

Welcome to the Club Maz!

Lord Lenny is right - you can wear whatever you want. That being said what you should wear has been a matter of sometimes heated debate in this forum!!

One thing we all agree on that should be worn in the lounge though is a good and respectful attitude - the added benefit being the nicer you treat the lounge people usually the nicer they treat you! I've always found them immensely accommodating if you ask nicely.

I personally prefer VA because its lounge attitude is more relaxed and less stuffy and as such feels more welcoming to me than the QF equivalent, and as long as you are respectful you will feel like you fit right in.

Thank you all for the replies, good to know I won't be surrounded by suits and ties. Also good to know not to wave my shiny new card around ..just show my ticket !!
The link to the lounges & locations is great thanks

You're welcome!! I had similar questions when I was starting out, but I was lucky enough to have done a reasonable amount of work flying with Gold or Platinum colleagues, so I was guested in for the firsr year or so I was travelling for work.

Grubbidok makes a great point, as long as you're polite and don't act like a jerk, you'll enjoy yourself

Welcome to the club, makes it a much more enjoyable experience IMO. Don't forget you can also use the Premium Entry into the Sydney and Brisbane lounge, you can flash your card there to check in if you like. ;-).

If flying VA yep any VA lounge...

If flying on a VA partner airline ask the Check in staff other wise a quick phone call to Velocity Customer line and they will let you know...
