Looking at a four day car hire in Sydney next May, I was up for $861 Thu PM to Mon AM for a mid-sized ICE (Camry or similar)

Then I noticed I can hire a Polestar for $454 for the same period. Looking at other companies, there's an EV6 for $365... with those sort of $$$ incentives, and EV is a no brainer.

I've not driven or used an EV before, and am keen to try.

Will the rental car come with the cable need to home trickle charge? (we're talking Avis/Thrift/Europecar as the vendor, not Bob's Bargain Bangers). The car will be private garaged each night so overnight top ups are no drama.

Whilst I'd overnight charge before our 7am rental return, we are 100km from Mascot - how do the rental companies work out the cost of a top up charge in leiu of the price to top up fuel in an ICE?

I'd welcome anyone else's experiences and/or tips

Cheers!

I suggest test driving one for familiarisation and reading the operations manual. Each model should have experience centres
Ask if the car comes with a mobile charger.

Use Plugshare app to find the faster DC chargers often called CCS chargers in Plugshare

Note that some Tesla superchargers are open to non Tesla cars but you need a free Tesla app

EV will be able to estimate for you the arrival battery charge at a destination including back at rental
