First J flight , actaully any flight on EK !

Wow !! was only a short tease AKL - BNE yesterday but what a fantastic product on the A380. Selected 9K as per markis10 suggestion for a window seat and just thought the configuration in J was brilliant  I ook forward to doing a long haul as soon as possible ... That is now 7 airlines (6 x OW & 1 x *A ) I have managed to fly J on internationally and I believe it would have to be the best.

Re: First J flight , actaully any flight on EK !

I recently took my first EK J flights, and was rather underwhelmed actually. I didn't particularly like the cabin ambiance. Can't put my finger on it, but it just felt 'vast' and strange (when standing up). I had 7A and found it to be comfortable enough, but actually prefer the skybed for comfort (but not privacy). Service was hit and miss, food was OK. On one of the segments the IFE was broken on 2 out of the 3 seats I sat in, and the suite squeaked so much I had to move (slight turbulence and it was very very noisy). The standout point was the bar/lounge. That is somewhere I would happily spend the majority of a longhaul flight (especially with on-board internet).

IMHO the best J seat out there is still CX, although I look forward to the new VA seat being out soon.

I am glad you liked it, you do realise that there is a requirement for all AFF members to be photographed at the Bar ;)

EK J is nothing to write home about

The IFE, and bar is great but everything else is just OK

Service is average to poor with staff disinterested which for me is a major factor

4 J flights with EK and average service on all 4

NZ, SQ or QF for me provide far far superior service and a better J product (NZ/SQ)

Re: First J flight , actaully any flight on EK !

I've only done one J flight with EK and that was a 777 DXB-PER so haven't experienced teh A380 yet or its bars, so looking forward to trying that... Chauffer drive home at the end was nice...

And the FA we had was youngish and a bit sassy not your boring automaton types...

Its all way, way better than Y anyway, so not becoming jaded yet... :)

As to how many different airlines I've experienced J in it would be 8 with a couple of new ones coming up in the next month or so (all bar two in *A)

Re: First J flight , actaully any flight on EK !

I've completed two long flights in J on EK and had excellent service and meals. I've completed one on CX. I'd take EK anyday as their service standards were way ahead.

A friend of mine has recently become an EK FA....she's definitely young and sassy.

Compared to CX you are not raising the bar very high :p:p:p
