Despite being an FT AGM seems more of a report for this site:

---------

Arrived at Syd T2 for the first time in ages, anxious about flying TT for the first time (as I should have been!). Had checked in online a week before (Sequence 1) and had got a Row 11 seat.

Going through the terminal saw a Tiger logo on the monitor and went to Gate 59, only to find the flight was going to Melbourne. TT6103 was not showing on any of the departure monitors albeit they had not been updated (the first one was showing Closed flights that had left half an hour ago). Walked back around to the other gates and finally found a TV at Gate 39 showing an 11.40am departure (55 minutes delayed).

So off to the Virgin Lounge it was (using Priority Pass). First ever visit to the SYD lounge, which is presently under renovations with the back part closed off. Was actually reasonably impressed – good amount of light and good view over the tarmac – place was practically deserted apart from a few Cairns Taipans players – decent choices for breakfast, decent coffee. Style of the lounge was quite funky – striped carpet and a few cube chairs, although also mixed with some cheapish looking white tables.

Business centre temporarily relocated to near the entrance with a tarmac view but still six or so computers. Given I was delayed it was good that the bar opened at 11am – so a Fat Yak (amongst a far bigger choice than Qantas) at 11am and walk to the gate at 11.15am.
Reached the gate at about 11.20am to be told that their were engineering issues, so the waiting game began.

Eventually boarded at around 12.30pm then sat on the tarmac for a very long time with doors closed. The passenger count check was done three times, window shade and seat inspection done multiple times – I assume there must have been a CASA inspector on board as windowshades were raised from an inch down to fully open and a passenger in an exit row with spare seat was asked to store his hat. Interestingly the captain came out of the coughpit and addressed the plane from the FA mike apologising for the initial delay (Melbourne paperwork issues) and secondary delay (emergency system operating when it wasn't meant to) – thought it came over very well. TT plane was decent enough – far cleaner than the two TA planes I have been in however a very simple design with no Tiger logos or colour anywhere inside.

Cab to Brekky Creek for FT AGM and a nice steak, then back to the AGM. Good to catch up with some of the FT, AFF, MP crew and meet a few new faces.

Departed on the 5.15pm flight on a JASA -- Row 1. Had not eaten any of the Brisbane 5pm pizza and was very disappointed with the plane offerings for a flight arriving at Sydney at 7.45pm – a cheese platter or a cold beef and couscous salad. Had the salad but had to pop in to the totally empty Syd J lounge on arrival. That said the beef salad was very good and the pinot noir quite nice.

AirportLink not running so free bus to Central which made up for the cab I took to Brekky Creek.
