Hi All,

Wanted to check if anyone knows of or if there is a list anyway of destinations one can fly First Class out of Perth (or Sydney). Am going to be taking the wife away for her 30th and figured we can give first class a try for the first time, something neither of us have done yet but having a hard time narrowing down where we can get to.

I originally thought of going to Hawaii and I may be mistaken but I cant find direct flights there departing Aus in First Class, looks like its either Business direct or going first to LAX and then back-tracking on a domestic flight to HNL.

Other destinations would be MLE or SEZ but pretty sure both would be Emirates to Dubai and then back-tracking.

The only other place would be PPT but I cant find any first flights there.

Will be using Qantas points for this so that limits the airline choices / routes quite a bit.

Any assistance would be most welcomed.

Oh and I hope I posted this in the right place.

Thanks,
Lawrage

I don't think there is any such list so I'm doing my best to provide one.

I am fairly sure that the only flights from PER which offer an F cabin are EK flights to DXB.
From there of course you could fly onwards almost anywhere.

From SYD there are more choices but if you're using QF points that restricts them to QF, EK and OW airlines.
QF offer first to DXB, LHR, LAX and DFW.
Apart from DXB EK fly from MEL, SYD & BNE to AKL and I think there is a new flight to CHC.
There are still a couple of flights to DXB via Asia from the east coast such as MEL-KUL MEL-SIN SYD-BKK BNE-SIN.
QR have F SYD-DOH.
JAL have first SYD-NRT.
AA have F SYD-LAX.
I don't think there are any regional locations with flights in F except AKL and CHC.

Thanks esseeeayeenn that helps a lot.

Had a feeling that DXB was the main one from Perth, was not aware that NRT and BKK were options as well, will look into this.

Are you talking about using points, and if so, which points? Your question is quite open needed currently- there are many first class destinations from SYD on a variety of airlines.

The OP said:

Hence in my reply:

So those are the parameters. I'm sure there are some OW options I overlooked!

Thanks for the help everyone.

esseeeayeenn just had a look at JAL and yup you are right I can get from SYD-NRT in First but sadly no First flights from NRT-HNL. From my searching I dont believe any airline does first into HNL. I guess that destination is out for this trip.

Looking likely this will be PER-DBX and then possibly a connecting flight from there.

just for the record united flies Tokyo to Honolulu with first class (until they phase out first class), Korean offers first out of Seoul. JL used to offer it on one of their four dailies from Tokyo, but no longer.

Though the JAL J cabins are not too bad and better than anything that is operating to HNL from Australia. Here is a link to the 763 they use NRT-HNL-
JAL - BOEING 767-300ER 「JAL SKY SUITE 767ã€ï¼ˆJALパノラマギャラリー)
And J JAL service is virtually as good as many others F.

The other benefit is when you fly SYD-NRT there are 4 HNL services within 6 hours of the SYD plane landing.
On the way back would suggeat a stopover in Japan.most end up loving the place.

esseeeayeenn has provided an excellent list. I would just add that British Airways also has First from SYD to SIN. Though if you wanted to go to SIN, EK via MEL would probably be a better option anyway.

There is lots of availability in F on Japan Airlines from SYD-NRT (though you won't see it on the Qantas website). It's a great product and no fuel surcharge either. If I were you I'd consider flying PER-SYD on QF in J (assuming an A330), connecting to SYD-NRT in F on JL.

Thanks drron, This was really handy info as I look into this route. Also a quickish stopover on the way back would be quite good, Japan is still on the 'to visit' list.

Thanks MEL_Traveller, will take a look at United tonight when I get home from work - wasnt aware this was an option.

just beware with the JAL options to hnl that not all aircraft in their fleet have the latest product, some are still angled lie flats. best way to search options is to look directly at the Japan airlines booking page and they give you the seat type that will be operating for each flight.

UA... one of the most comfortable beds out there... and the service can be up there with the best... but they are limited in terms of catering and beverage selection. both of the latter would barely pass for business class on any other airline. It's decidedly cafeteria style comfort food... which I love so I don't mind it. and the ice cream sundaes are pretty hard to beat!

Thanks Mattg - Might be a dumb question but if they dont show up on the Qantas site how would I book these seats on JAL?

You may be able to see availability if you belong to another OW FF program.
I use the BA site to look for availability on MH before I call QF to book.
It's not always the same as availability via QF but it can be a guide.

for JAL can always sign up to mileage bank... JL's own frequent flyer program. free to join and accurate once you manage to work it out.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
