Finnair PE seats on Y tickets on regional A350 flights - A nice perk

I discovered a nice little perk on AY. They currently deploy a A350 on HEL-LHR route (one among many older A320/1's they fly on the route). They sell only Y and J tickets but when operating an A350 with a PE cabin and if you have a Y ticket, you can go and select or buy a PE seat.

On an AY ticketed flight, it looks like you'll pay 47€ + 51€ for a return trip for the seat. I have a QF ticket and at least for an OWE a PE seat seems to be free (my recollection is that OWS gets the same seat selection benefits on AY but no guarantees given at all). My selections 21A / 21L in June seem to stick.

I'd assume this applies to all flights there they operate three cabins but sell only two. Worth keeping in mind when wandering up there.

Hmmm. We booked an award flight for an AY domestic sector. OWS at the time of booking, was able to select row 1 for free (no business class on domestic). We were booted out of those seats around a week before departure. No warning.

"Lowly sapphires on awards? Hiss off, back of the plane with you. Our Lumos need your seats..." ;)

I'll see if I get to keep the seats. If yes, it's a good reason to try to time the movements to get on 350's over the old 320's.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Same on IBs widebody flights from LHR-MAD. Can select PE for free :)
