When there's a nice anecdote to share, let's do it. I had a rather efficient experience with Finnair Customer Services through their online chat function to purchase Economy Comfort seats for a long-haul flight. It's one of those nice combinations where no airline will touch it through their Manage My Booking (MMB) service online: ticketed by QF, marketed as a BA codeshare and operated by AY.
Sent a chat message asking how can one buy such a seat and the cost. After sending through the booking references, a minute later I had the price (95€ per seat as QFF silver) and he offered to book them there and then. We agreed on the suitable seats and he asked for a billing and email addresses, leading to a payment link arriving from Amadeus. That was quick and easy.
A note about the payment links: they are valid for five hours only so if you need to confer with your travel companions whether you'd want to buy those seats, better do it beforehand or soon after.
