Alas not much in the way of points transfers to airline or hotel FF programs, but you could buy travel using points.

Thought I would share for those just wanting a free credit card:

https://www.hsbc.com.au/1/2/personal/credit-cards/low-rate

Oh and you do get $50 cash back for spending $500 per month for the first 3 months (which is 3.3% and higher than standard rewards conversion rates).

Not sure whether this is only valid for the basic card or the premium cards (depending on your income).

i think the Bank West fee free platinum with the free travel insurance might be a better deal over the long term.

No reward program on this particular card. Therefore nothing in the way of points to buy travel with.

This is for the basic card.

HSBC have two basic cards. The one from the OP, which is fee free and no rewards, or the HSBC classic which has an annual fee (waived year 1), and has the rewards program

Then there are the premium cards (gold/platinum) in addition.

Nothing wrong with a fee free card with no rewards program. Can be one of the more cost effective cards for some people. There is not much to be gained by paying for a card with a rewards program if you don't get that value back!
