Fat Duck London Reservation

Do you have a concierge you can use? Maybe from a Credit Card? I had AMEX get me a reservation at Per Se last year - gave them about 3 months notice, they put in a reminder to call up 1 month in advance (when bookings opened) on the dot. Didn't need to worry about timing or anything - they handled it and got exactly the time/date we wanted. :)

Actually, ditto with Eleven Madison Park on Valentine's Day.

Cheers,
- Febs.

That is a great idea - something I have but very rarely use!

Have you tried his newer restaurant Dinner at Heston's? Availability seems quite good from various dates I was checking. A friend was there earlier in the year and a couple of dishes identical to The Fat Duck

This sounds much better for me.

London is only a brief stopover for me on the way into less-western parts of Western Europe, so this more convenient location suits me perfectly.

Any recommendations for dishes?

You also can't book as a single diner (you have to pay for two) and have to prepay some exorbitant amount in advance to guarantee your reservation.

So true.

Have a reservation but friend has had to cancel. Might have to cancel the whole reservation then.

Is anyone up for lunch at the Fat Duck? 1 seat available, first Friday of Nov. Let me know asap if you are :)

Hmmm, day before I goto WAW!

Is that Nov 1st or 8th? Let me check flight prices and I'll let you know :)

Great! That's the 1st.

I'm going to have to cancel by Fri (I know, it's terrible that we only found out now that she can't go), so let me know :)

Think the 1st is out for me, sorry. CX PE is 3.5k (PER-LHR) , which isn't bad, but the flight timings mean I'd miss Thurs-Monday which I probably can't do. Good luck.

Thought I'd follow this up.

Dinner by Heston was one of the highlights of our trip.

Meat Fruit was great - but the highlight was a buttered orange loaf, a taste sensation.

Meat Fruit at Dinner by Heston lunch today. Fab.

Very sad that Meat Fruit was not on the menu at the Fat Duck when i went in 2012. They could have swapped it for the snail porridge!

Snail porridge at FD was very impressive, IMHO more so than Meat Fruit.

There's some intermixing of restaurants in this thread between Fat Duck in Bray (which does a full degustation menu) and Dinner by Heston at the Mandarin Orient in Knightsbridge, London. They don't do the same food. Fat Duck is full Heston theatre while Dinner is more à la carte.

Agreed, although a number of classic Heston FD dishes are now appearing on the menu at Dinner.
