Recently I was declined access to the First Class Security / Immigration Lane at NRT (travelling on J-ticket - Int'l JL with QF Platinum on BP & Card in hand).

It was the Southern access point.

The signboard at entry listed - apart from JL F - some other cards (Fly on Diamond etc...) but not OWE.

I was disinclined to argue as the gate angel was not speaking any English.

On the OW site, NRT is listed as having available fast-track access for OWE travelling on OW airlines [incl. JL].

Did I misread the OW rules or it was simple I was not offered what should have been an OWE benefit ?

It was not a dealbreaker but if there is such a benefit as it appears to be then it should be offered.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Don't have experience at NRT, but Fast track is becoming as complex as Lounge Access!
Here are some recent problems I had with OWE/J/F fast track:
First ARN, the OW website still says that Fast Track is in terminal 5 for BA, AY and AB even though these 3 airlines fly out of T2! Usually I have access without problem on BA flights in Y, but if the BA flight is an AY codeshare, then the computer says no and I have to explain that I'm OWE.

Recently at ORY I wasn't expecting Fast Track since it's not mentioned on the OW website, but after checking in the agent told me to use the Fast Track lane because I'm OWE. The attendant at the immigration lane initially said no, I said I'm Emerald and then she said yes.

DUB is also not mentioned on OW website and I had access to Fast Track.

Take home message: Always walk with confidence towards the Fast Track lane and repeat the world "Emerald" until you are through or until the police arrest you! :D:shock:

I was nonchalant with fast-track access up until now but maybe a printout of access rules may help ?

The gate angel was not speaking any English so any printout would be moot really.

A little disappointed as it was the main airport of an OW member, not to mention the OW carrier & the OWE card.

BTW, when I enquired in the FCL, the lounge angels were all surprised that I was declined acess [whether that meant anything remains to be seen].

I have use Fast Track at NRT several times with never an issue - mainly travelling in economy.

Serfty

Did you have any difficulty on any occasion ? If yes, how did you handle that (assuming you could not converse in Japanese) ?

Could you see the OWE sign anywhere at the entrance [as I did not] ?

Are we talking about the same entrance here ?

The one I was referring to was just behind the JL F Counter @ Southern end of T2.

Yeah the one closest to the JL lounge afyer getting through - last time was in March ... no problems whatsoever (travelling QF).

I guessed I had been well & truly "shafted" in that case as we are now talking about the same entrance.

Luck of the draw I guess.

Don't think any argument / web printout (in English) would help.

Maybe I should have returned to the F check-in to clarify - Will remember to do that next time.
