Looking to book a multi city booking as follows LAX-MEL-PER-MEL-LAX (Stopovers in MEL each direction) In Y+ for the International legs

Doing some dummy bookings online, it is showing the Fare Type as Flexi Saver. Then clicking on the link shows the fare conditions stating that points and SC will earn at the economy rate, (NOT DISCOUNT). So will the Y+ flight credit as Y+ points and SC and will the domestic flights credit at full Y?

Doing the identical booking however starting and ending in PER shows the fare Type as Premium Economy Sale. And conditions say Flights earn points and SC at Y+. Calling QF they said economy flights book into B? (Discount economy?)

So what should i trust? And if the domestic flights do end up posting at discount Y can i ask for full Y?

Any clarification would be great!

cheers gogo

If you want to find the fare class on the Qantas website, if you get to the step 4 screen which like lists all your flights, then right click your mouse and select view source or view source code. If you scroll down the page (to maybe line 160 or so) there is a section which says:

var mileageRequest = this.earnPointsConnectorUrl;
mileageRequest += "&REQUEST_ID="+this.earnPointsRequest_Id;
mileageRequest += "&SECTORS=MEL/HKG,HKG/MEL";
mileageRequest += "&SEGMENT_ID=1,2";
mileageRequest += "&FLIGHT_NUMBERS=29,30";
mileageRequest += "&AIRLINE_CODES=QF,QF";
mileageRequest += "&OPERATING_CODES=*,*";
mileageRequest += "&NB_STOPS=0,0";
mileageRequest += "&CLASSES=N,K";
mileageRequest += "&FQTV_NUMBER_LIST=6044591";
mileageRequest += "&DATES=280720130935/280720131710,280820132030/290820130750";
return mileageRequest;
You can see above the fare classes that are used - in this case N one way and K on the way back.

There is a thread on AFF about this somewhere but hopefully the quick explanation was sufficient for now.

Thanks for that! Had a look and it seems that domestic flights are booking into "N" Even though it is stating next to the flight number (Normal view) that it is a Flexi saver....

It seems re routing the domestic flights will get some of the domestic flights into B.. I think i will call up and get QF to build the booking and ask them to confirm the codes for each flight...
