Fantastic treatment from HHonors; upgraded to Gold a little early

I recently e-mailed HHonors to ask (a friend told me to try it) if I could receive an upgrade to Gold (from Silver) in time for my US trip next month. As far as booked stays go, I had 6 booked between now and then and already 9 under my belt -- so I would have been 75% there after my trip.

Anyway, good news, they upgraded me to Gold a little early. A nice touch and a fantastic way to keep me booking with Hilton.

PS. Does anyone find the Hilton prices go DOWN closer to the date? I've booked with Hilton Sydney for a while now (for next week) and just went in to check prices... the room I booked is now cheaper. I wonder if I booked the wrong (more expensive) room rate or if they've had some cancellations in that fare bucket.

Well done on the status grant.

As for prices, they can go up, they can go down depending upon parameters such as advance bookings etc..

I tend to lock in a flexible rate immediatly I am aware of a need to stay then regularly recheck, and rebook then cancel the earlier made booking should the flexible rate become cheaper.
