My sister currently has 12k QFF points. She has recently received a letter informing her that within a month or so, those points will expire without activity.

One idea we have is that she will transfer the 12k QFF points to me, clearing her out.

Questions:
  • The 12k QFF points that my sister will transfer to me: do they inherit the current expiry date that I have on my points (which is not for another 18 months given I have recent activity), or will they retain the original expiration (which means they will expire in less than a month)? If the latter, if I burn points, will the ones that expire be used first; also, if I have activity in the interim, will that remove the expiration on those 12k transferred points?
  • My sister with a 0 balance... if I later want to transfer points to her for whatever reason, because she has had no activity in the last 18 months and Family Transfers don't count as eligible activity, what expiration date will apply on the points transferred to her? I would assume, not silly enough, that when I transfer the points to her, due to her not having any eligible activity in the last 18 months, the points will not expire immediately!

Cheers

Points expiry lives with the account, not the points, so they will take up your expiry if transferred. Any points transferred back to her account start the clock ticking to expiration of 60 days.
