A good reason to avoid certain areas of the Middle East as tensions rise.

Not directly related, but I saw yesterday that some QR flights to Europe (Rome, Athens) are flying over Syria instead of Iran/Iraq/Turkey. Is QR the only major airline having resumed flights over Syria?

Well, QR for one will have difficulty. They can't fly over UAE/Saudi Arabia, there is no way around the Gulf for them.

Closer to home, just noting QF 2 is over the Persian Gulf right now.

Maybe via Hong Kong and over the pole to Europe will be a tad more popular while the Saudis and Iranians et al are throwing insults & threats at each other.

(Although my next non-refundable flight in a few weeks is Sin-Lhr  )

Maybe this route could become popular to avoid flying over anywhere inhabited:p
