Maybe I'm just a grump, but a mechanical failure is rare, they got you straight into a hotel in SIN, and then onwards to MEL via PER the next morning. Perfect, no, but sheesh, doesn't seem like a major inconvenience nor bad service.

I agree I am not complaining about the outcome at all. The total lack of any communication is what I thought was substandard.

I wonder what VAs partner airlines think of the VA status match. Not sure if the OP is a SM or BIS but surely EY/SQ won't want to put some VA Plat who may never have even flown with them or VA before ahead of their own status pax.

I am not sure EY care, I am EY Gold for two years and have never flown them , thanks to one of their promos.

I would also have expected to be told that my new flight wasnt actually going direct to Melbourne before i got back to the airport...

That information may not have been available. However the more informed affected pax can be the better off everyone is
