I didn't keep it but today's 'Herald Sun' had a sale ad from that large lossmaker, EY, with return Y fares from Oz to LHR from A$999 though to and back from CDG was about A$1241.

Given that the UK has an outwards air passenger duty that should bump up the cost of fares ex LHR, this seemed a big difference.

Is this merely because EY has four flights a day each way between AUH and LHR but only half that number, two, to and from CDG, or are other forces at play?

It's quite a saving to fly in and out of LHR (or maybe in to LHR and out from CDG, an open jaw ticket) and use Eurostar sale fares to visit Paris.

I have seen today cheaper Etihad flights to Dublin. I now live in Madrid (and do the MAD-MEL flight 3-4 times a year) and sometimes it also drops to those prices.

I've not seen Etihad so cheap to London before, but I have seen it to their other direct EU outlets under AU$1000 at certain times.

Maybe Brexit freak out?
