Hello,

I'm going over to the states in October for a bit of a getaway, while I'm over there I will be buying a bit of ice hockey equipment which will require an additional bag (too expensive to get shipped home by itself).

Now the hockey store is in LA, which is where we arrive first (all our flights are with Delta), we then fly to New York then back over to San Francisco then home via LAX.

I was kind of hoping to leave the hockey equipment at storage at LAX and get it when I come back through when I am on my way back to Sydney, is it possible to check in extra luggage at LAX on top of the luggage which was checked in at SFO?

Or will I just have to lug the extra bag around for the trip?

Thanks for your help
Michael

I've had a look at that, the problem isn't so much the actual storage, but being able to check the luggage in at LAX

Just noticed your posting name has changed from MikeRest to MRest. Just observant I guess.

Seems like I had an old forum account laying around that I forgot about lol

All sorted now

Suspect you should be able to do it.

Other way is obviously not to check luggage through, just SFO-LAX, then collect your second bag, then check for return

I don't see it being a problem checking in another item at LAX - it would still be part of your luggage allowance. However I would want to avoid doing this at LAX because that place is a nightmare at the best of times. Simply being in transit there enroute from SFO to SYD would be more than enough without the added complication of retrieving a bag from a locker & rechecking it.

Also luggage an extra bag around the States could cost you USD20.00 each time you check it in which would be a real PITA!

Is this ice hockey store only in LAX & no store in SFO? If not, can you purchase online or over the phone from the store in LAX & have it shipped to your hotel in SFO at the end of your stay instead so you could just check it in with the rest of your stuff?

Your hotel may be able to store it for you.

Thanks for the heads up about LA, unfortunately the 2 stores we are visiting are both in the LA area.

I have emailed the hotel in San Francisco but I think they will be reluctant to hold it (approx 1 week) because we are only staying at that particular hotel for 2 nights.

Hi MRest,

Having lived in Montreal for years, I have lugged enough hockey bags around (my sons', not mine) to know that you would NOT want to drag this stuff all around USA. I really like ozbeachbabe's advice. (As a matter of fact, I am always impressed by her advice.) I don't think the hotel in San Francisco would mind stroing this stuff at all, even if you are only staying there a short time. I have used hotel storage services in USA plenty of times, and there has never been any hassle. Just have the stuff tagged, "Hold for Mr MRest, arriving mm/dd/yyyy". Remember to get that mm and dd the wrong way around.
