My UA miles are expiring soon, what is the cheapest/simplest option to extend them if based in Oz? I don't have any credit cards linked.

I heard iTunes was a way, but does that work from Oz?

I was hoping for a virtual purchase (no physical goods shipped) - Are there stores in the Mall where you can donate $5 to charity and earn points, something like that?

Also I saw you could purchase miles, but it did not mention if purchasing extends them - does it?

In the past I have donated 1000 points to charity ... not sure if this still can be done since CO ...

You can get points for download of the toolbar if you are game. Also had some mail yesterday about getting 100 points for subscribing to a accomodation booking site. I actually did this to refresh expiry dates on my wifes account but for the life of me can't remember the name, will have a look tonight.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Wish I had remembered about this about 6 months ago. Let a couple of United accounts lapse...

Don't or won't? Anyway, I use things like hotel stays or car rentals to keep the United account alive as I have over 80k miles left in Mileage Plus. I have 840,000 lifetime miles but will not bother to try for the million miler status.

errr....don't! Is there an Aussie credit card I can link to it?

Don't download the toolbar - it has a lot of hidden files and is very difficult to completely delete

Alternatively, why not just book a cheap reward ticket (eg NAN-TYO) and then cancel it?

Don't have enough points? Oh, I see, don't have the status.

Has anyone tried clicking through the mileage Plus Shopping site to an international merchant. As an example just got a MilesagePlus Shopping mail offering 6 points for LivingSocial, when I click through it does give me the Aus Site and the link does seem to include the affiliate code. For those who do use LivingSocial (and I am one) this seems an easy way to earn a few points but wondering if anyone has done this before and got points.

Burmans, how did you get on extending your miles - did you try the Living Social route?
