Am booked with VA to AUH in PE, and then Y with EY to MXP.

Have heard mixed reviews on the ability of EY to transfer baggage, which with my purpose of trip is a bit of a worry!

Question however, is on way back from MXP the transit time is 14+ hrs.

What is normal practice here - do bags still get checked through to final destination and one is free to clear immigration/customs at AUH for the 14 hours, or is it normal to only check bags as far as AUH and then re-check after the layover?

Also - any recent user views of the VA PE product on the SYD-AUH leg?
