Hi all,
Just scavenging around for other's experiences here...

I've just tried to book a trip for me and Mrs D-H using the Plat Guaranteed Reward Seats benefit... and it wasn't a particularly great experience.

I told her my dates and at EVERY opportunity, she tried to sell me any-seat rewards, or premium rewards, ("it's only 10,000 points more", "it's only $120 more" etc etc) even though the T&Cs specifically state that it's economy only. Basically anything to get me not to take advantage of the offer.

She also said that because there was availability 5 days either side, the request would get knocked back... I had to correct her (having just prepped myself
with the T&Cs) that it was actually 3 days either side for an international trip.

I was expecting more to be "This is when I'd like to fly"..."Certainly D-H, I'll make it happen." Optimistic, I know. What can I say, my cup is half-full.

I know that they are running a business, but if you offer something - especially to your elite flyers - please just back it up and do it and don't make people fight for it.

For the record, I've been quite happy with DJ, and generally been unaffected by some of the stuff they haven't got quite right up to now, but actually I now find myself on the other side of the fence and am not best impressed!

Only 100-odd flights a year DJ, show me a bit of love back...

Anyone had similar or markedly better experience with this?

No experience with this specifically but I share your frustration. If you make a promise, keep it. Unfortunately it's common for companies to make a promise with a thousand T&Cs attached to it. As a consequence I am rarely swayed by any kind of 'offer' apart from here's the product and this is the price. Jaded consumer that I am, I'm almost certain I'm missing out....on nothing. :D

All,
Sorry to bump this... any more experiences out there to share... did I just get someone on the Plat line at the end of a bad day... or has it been tough for others to redeem this bennie...?

D-H

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Not exactly the same issue... I did try as gold to book some one way redemptions and was given no joy from the call centre. Didn't have enough points for the return which is what it's meant to be, so that's fine. As a comped gold and given they were just sticking to rules, I had no real complaints. I did think though, that had I earned the privilege I would've liked a bit more assistance on the other end to see if there was some options to be explored?

Similar exp. I booked for 4 - took some convincing re the rules but eventually coughed up the seats (25 mins checking with supervisor) - in Dec for this July School hols. My beef is the variable earn rate. QF is easier to understand - only one D/J rate - and all flights earn SC unlike SQ etc
