NBN Co starts connecting up Australian airports

Reveals more about complex premises that won’t be ready by June.

NBN Co is now deploying infrastructure to three airports - Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney - and negotiating site access to a fourth in Brisbane as part of its work connecting up more complex premises to the network.

Executives told a senate estimates hearing on Tuesday night that domestic and international airports were among 100,000 premises where the build was so complex that works would continue after the completion of the “volume rollout” in mid-2020.

Everyone's favourite network is coming to an airport near you, soon! Doubt there will be much impact on operations, hopefully it will help make things more stable. They should have multiple routes in with diverse path anyway.

I doubt it will impact operations unless NBN "accidentally" cuts a fibre line already servicing most airports.
NBN will only be used for the retail shops but most operations and airline offices are already on TPG, Telstra or somesort of full fibre service.

The retailers will have NBN FTTB/FTTN and i doubt there will be diverse path as redundancy options.. Maybe multiple lead-ins to support multiple MDF points through out the airport.

If the airlines decide to switch from business grade fibre service to NBN to save $$$ then there will be issues..
