I've got a couple of one way hires in Europe coming up in March- any thoughts on getting them cheaper via discount codes, etc would be appreciated as the prices are seeming pretty steep.

March 22nd Pickup DUS - March 25th Drop-off LYS

March 25th Pickup VGO - March 29th Drop off BOD

Many Thanks

Dave

We got a decent rate on Avis last september STR--> MUC just booking online via avis.com. No discount codes or anything required.

Avis : EU110 for three days + one way, Hertz, thrifty etc EU330+.

Easy decision.

So:
1. Shop around
2. Have a look at the rental pages on flyertalk to see if there's any discount codes available.

Definately confirm any one way fees in writing prior to booking as they can be horrendous.

I was slugged over $800 with Hertz for a one way between Paris and Venice.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

And make sure the tank is full before returning. Europcar hit me up for nearly $500 for 3/4 tank of fuel!

One ways with a Venice endpoint are notorious for being expensive +++.

Seems everyone wants to leave the car there and not drive back the other way hence bulk cars to transport back around the EU.

You live and learn, wont be making that mistake again :mrgreen:

I prefer the train these days, though I do miss my stops at AutoGrill along the way

Mrs Paddy has just last week had a one way car hire from Florence to Rome and Avis was the best deal by far in Italy.

The service provided, which included keeping the office open late after a train delay, phoning me in Oz to discuss same, and then upgrading to a BMW was without fault.
