They've also fixed the ability to offer Eurail Global Pass paper passes with a starting date not specified: last time there was a sale, one had to nominate a date to start the pass.

Most users go for the mobile pass but a significant number of paper passes (c.120,000 of the varying duration and country-covering passes) are still sold each year.

Youths and seniors also get discounts. I always buy a first class pass as the extra cost per day is minimal but the extra pitch of seats and especially how on many trains first is in a 2+1 configuation makes it well worthwhile.

Don't forget that in the UK on Avanti West Coast, Great Western Railway, London North Eastern Railway and TRans Pennine Express, first class passholders receive free food and drink including alcohol. The food varies from very basic to quite impressive, and is not uniform even though all the operators are now essentially controlled by the British government.
