In my hunting for the best price on Eurail tickets I have discovered that tickets are cheaper on US websites. There are a number of specials where they are not charging a shipping fee. The difference in price is over $100 per couple, which is a lot in my opinion.

A question though.. does the Eurail Pass expire six months after purchase or that it needs to be activiated within six months????

It was about 15 years ago that I used a one month Eurrail pass, but from memory the pass expired two months after the FIRST DATE it was used. I don't know if it has changed since that time.

From eurorailways.com:
  • Passes must be validated within 6 months of issue date

You may be best to check that Eurail passes purchased in the USA are valid for use by non-USA passport holders. These passes are not able to used by EU residents, which is why they must be purchased outside the EU countries.

Your Eurail pass is validated upon first use and you have to show your passport at that time to verify that you are eligible to use the pass. So do check either directly with Eurail or the issuer that a USA-purchased pass can be used by someone with an Aussie passport.
