Etihad upgrades for VA Gold on Discount Y ticket (K)

Hi folks,

My client has booked me on a EY Economy (K) fare. My departure is too soon to do anything about it but I was hoping I might be able to upgrade the CGD-AUH-MEL legs after transferring AmEx MR points to Etihad Guest.

I won't bother to join EG if I can't upgrade K and/or win a QF-esque lottery without EY status. I'm VA Gold.
 
You can upgrade from K class to J if there are award seats available. From CDG AUH MEL it looks like its 104179 pts. U can check availability on the Etihad Guest website, no need to be a member.
