Etihad Transaction Fee - Payment Provider

I'm looking at booking a flight with Etihad via https://www.etihad.com/en-au/

I’m aware that my Credit Card (Citi Prestige MC) charges 3.4% for International transactions. I've called up Citi who asked me to contact Etihad to confirm if the payment provider they are using is local (i.e. Australian) vs offshore.

Etihad were not much help, they were thinking any fee would be a currency conversion fee (which a) doesn't apply as the transaction is in AUD, and b) has its own MC exchange rates and fees).
The fee relates to a transaction that's processed via an offshore payment provider. I don’t think Etihad phone support understood my question, but TBH I don’t think this is something other then the staff supporting the payment gateways would know.

My question to the community is; has anyone recently brought tickets from Etihad using Etihad's website and were you changed an International Transaction fee (assuming your card has a fee). And what card did you use.

I have a 0% international transaction fee credit card, but for the purposes of these tickets I would like to use the Citi Prestige.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I appreciate any reply.

I can confirm that I have purchased 2 tickets via Etihad charged in AUD - processed on my Westpac credit card and no foreign fees were charged.

I also changed one ticket via the call centre - received a link to then pay the change fee, also charged in AUD and no foreign fees.
