Etihad - The Residence Review

OK so I'm likely out-of-step here, but that doesn't look like all that much fun to me. As somebody who generally loves flying, those pictures make it seem a bit too "cocooned" for my liking; a bit too much like a tiny apartment instead of a cracking first class cabin. I like a bit of people watching, so just sitting in that "room" with Marge for an entire flight watching a movie while she reads might be just a little bit dull? Then there's the flight length. LHR to AUH is just a six or seven hour flight, isn't it?

Concur. There was a walk through video published by EY with Danni Minogue of all people (I guess a 'star' that's tiny/short/petite is necessary for the size of the suite) and I was very under-whelmed in general. Yes, it looks great, but i'd not complain at the lounge area alone converting into an awesome private suite. Private WC/shower sure it's nice but I'm happy to schlep it in the general ones. I struggle to sleep on any bed that's not a queen size or bigger (i'm yet to find any airline seat/bed/suite I sleep well in) so it would be a waste.

I'll save my coin and fly in other cabins methinks!

..and i'm buying my own Citation X ;)

My boss has one and flies it himself to work.... and a helicopter. Boys and their toys.

For The Residence. Meh. Im still impressed with business class so wouldn't spend all that money or points on the Residence, just use them for more trips in J, although a shower would be very nice.

Guess I better save for first class then.... MEL > AUH > MAN for two people....
