Etihad Status Match - Any Point for Velocity Members?

Just wondering if any Virgin frequent flyers made use of the Etihad status match - would there be any point of having an elite membership in both programs?

I put my application in earlier today purely out of interest.

Probably no point for me, because I dont go to Europe. But if you fly Etihad a bit, and the Lounge Entry is reciprocal, Why not.
Would they even Status Match a Partner Airline??? How do you guys find out about these status matches?

If successful, the status match also comes with triple miles for business class flights, so it could be worth crediting EY business flights to EY rather than VA.

That would be me, although it takes forever. Applied using my WP status in November, with my upcoming trip on 24 December, and the match was approved in April. Was matched to Gold, not Gold Elite. Was flying F, anyway, and was promised the Gold extra miles if the match came after I traveled, but their customer service don't seem to understand that, even when I forward the original email, so I gave up.

This promo, perhaps, but EY have been matching status for much longer than that. Look at the EY forum on FT. It seems the advertise it nationally when they launch a new route, such as Dublin, in order to acquire new FFers from other schemes, but people from many different programs have successfully had status matched. Most airlines, except QF and BA match status.

This EY status match is either a scam or EY are working with highly ineffective processes, unsuitable for the 21[SUP]st[/SUP] century volume of travellers with premium status. On either 10[SUP]th[/SUP] or 11[SUP]th[/SUP] April 12, I applied to EY asking them to match my Gold status with CX’s Marco Polo Club as a part of the then advertised status match promo but have not heard a single word from EY. It doesn’t surprise me as this is consistent with bad service I am hearing is being delivered by their reservations, visa processing and passenger relations offices.

I didn't get a reply nor a confirmation email and signed up within 10 mins of the status match offer. Have a few EY flights coming up and would have been good if the Velocity status gives me issues at any of the lounges or with baggage.
Wish I had of booked with Singapore now in hindsight.

In my first Etihad online statement today I see that I've received a Guest Gold status match with my Velocity Gold status.

I applied in April have had 2 flights since April with PG credited to EY Guest

I have been in and out of Australia these past few months, mainly SE Asia so maybe the EY card is at home by now. - along with my new Velocity Platinum. Thanks DJ also for being so prompt to credit SCs.

I reached DJ Platinum on several recent flights in Australia in May, and in SE Asia with SQ.

All since April but I haven't flown EY for 3 years.

.......Which I guess is about to change ---

I'm really impressed and grateful.

I believe having both Velocity Platinum and Etihad Guest Gold Status is a very convenient match for me especially S with DJ and Bankok Airways with Etihad.

I presently work mostly in Cambodia.

They've also bumped me up to gold. I'll need to think of something to do with the status now. I wonder if I can present EY gold and VA Plat cards at the Lounge then take five people in with me?

Also received an Etihad statement today, but my tier remains as Base :-(
