I recently flew a short domestic Qantas flight and received 15 EQD's. The ticket price was around USD150 + tax. In order to qualify for Gold status (oneworld ruby) i would need to earn 1,500 EQD's - so can I extrapolate that to mean I would need to spend USD15,000 to reach Gold?? Seems excessive to reach equivalent to Qantas silver.

Also I find the equation EQD's + EQM's OR EQS's confusing.

Does it mean the EQD's are essential to status? Or the EQS's can stand alone?
