I'm planning a trip to Casablanca from Australia. The return trip from Casablanca involves a stopover in Dubai of 9 hours and it appears that I might qualify for a free transit hotel etc in Dubai.

I gleaned this from the Emirates website:

LONG STOPOVERS

As a special courtesy to our passengers, in certain cases where an itinerary calls for a long stopover, Emirates will cover accommodation, meal, and ground transportation costs.
This service is offered to:
  • Economy Class passengers
    • If the booking class for the entire outbound or inbound leg of their journey is N, M, W, or Y.
    • If the connection time until the first available flight is more than 8 hours and less than 24 hours.
  • Business and First Class passengers
    • If the booking class for the entire outbound or inbound leg of their journey is D, C, J, Z, A, or F.
    • If the connection time until the first available flight is more than 6 hours and less than 24 hours.
Long stopover expenses may also be covered in other cases, such as Skywards redemption bookings, and other rules may apply.
Please check with your local Emirates office at the time of booking or prior to commencement of travel. Long stopover expense cover must be pre-booked, and Emirates is only able to accept bookings made one day before the day of departure at the latest.

Can anyone advise me about what the booking class for an economy journey booked via the Emirates website would normally be? I've looked at the relevant fare rules for the flights I intend to take but there is no info about the booking class for the quoted fare.

Has anyone taken advantage of this offer in conjunction with either a paid website booking or a Skywards redemption booking? It can potentially be quite valuable - the hotel in the DXB transit lounge, for example, charges at least $280 for 8 hours of use.

I'm not sure as far as their website goes, but the lowest yield agent gross fares are generally W class so i'd imagine it would be the same.

Perhaps give them a quick call and ask.
