Never had this before. Got an email today from a QF staff member (so showed in inbox as from 'John Smith', whose email address was [email protected]) offering to change my MEL-SYD-SIN JASA next year to a non-stop MEL-SIN flight (whether it remained a JASA was not specified).

Not complaining, it is probably a good thing they offer this, a bit of extra customer service (but no way I am changing it :) - happy to stick with what I have), but interesting to know if it would have remained a JASA or reverted to Classic. Also interesting to note that non-stop was not available when I booked it a month or so ago - not that I'm disappointed .

Have read recently of someone receiving a phone call offering similar changes from indirect to non-stop routing, wonder whether anyone else has received similar emails.
 
Nothing here yet but as I have an 11-stop in 48-hours journey coming up I'm sure I'll be next on their list. Happy to take a direct flight if they just give me ORC :p
 
I haven't had QF call to offer this service, but when I did revenue management at another airline we would get the call centre to call pax who were booked on connections when a non-stop was available. It usually is a win/win situation - pax gets a quicker journey, airline has lower costs. Of course there are good reasons for booking the connection - more SC, lower price, stretch legs, like to fly, etc.
 
Getting the email direct from the individual employee email account could of been an error (a guess). Rather than sending from the team inbox, the staff member sent the email from their individual inbox.

Possibly so. I replied thanking him for the offer, but adding that I was happy with the current routing and did not want it altered in anyway. He acknowledged the response and cancelled the QF35 segment he had already added to the booking in anticipation of me accepting it. I guess he had to add it prior to making the offer to me or the seat may have gone in the interim. The original JASA MEL-SYD-SIN appears untouched.

Yes, it's not unreasonable to assume most pax would prefer a non-stop rather than a connection, but as you say, there are some of us weird people out there who prefer connections sometimes, for the reasons you mention. :)
 
Yep received a call once from some proactive staffers in CNS. Seems they saw I was routed CNS-SYD-BNE and they wanted to put me on the direct flight.
 
Got a call yesterday from ASP QP offering direct ASP-MEL for today, after they saw my SYD connection.

Declined as new flight left only 10 mins after my incoming.

Turns out inbound was early and direct was late, so when I walked into QP, staffer offered the direct :)

And took it? ORC applied I assume?
 
Hope I get the same treatment... I have a SYD-MEL-SIN coming up with a 6am departure. The sleepin would be nice
