Quick question, do you have the choice to access the EK lounge at SYD as a Gold when flying on normal international QF flights/routes?

Yes you can enter the EK and/or QF lounges

I thought that EK had to have a codeshare on the flight for you to use their lounge.

I tried to go into the BNE EK lounge once when on QF97 and was told 'no' as EK don't fly BNE-HKG.

My experience echoed that of Mr_Orange in that I was told EK would need to their code on that QF flight before one can access the lounge under the reciprocal arrangement. :-|

This was the case in SYD.
