A warning about using Bing Lee's online site and receiving bonus points
I bought a washing machine at the end of November online from Bing Lee and paid about $30 more than other online retailers as I decided to take the 3 bonus points per dollar. Bing Lee is a premium bonus partner. When I paid with my black Amex, I ignored the paypal button. However when the cc was processed, the BL site said it was using paypal to process my card. I didn't think anything of it however the bonus points weren't on my statement. Earth Black priority line checked with customer service. Customer service said they would not give me the bonus points because I chose the paypal option. I had 30 minutes of a quite heated conversation with the CSO, where she continually told me it was my fault for choosing paypal, and I repeatedly telling her I had no choice and I did not choose paypal but rather their premium bonus partner is choosing paypal rather than WBC as their credit card processor. My Earth Black Amex card is not even linked to my paypal account which not used in this transaction. Then she told me I should ask Bing Lee why they don't use WBC! That is when I became very annoyed. Why should the user of a premium card challenge Bing Lee the premium bonus partner over the ins and outs of their online processing. Eventually she agreed to reimburse me for the points but told me I was not really entitled to them. We will wait and see if they come through.
THis is the description of the offer:

So looks like best to purchase in store at Bing Lee with the AMEX.

It's false advertising and totally illegal if they do not give you the points. I'd hit up the ombudsman if they don't post.

Westpac are shocking...

I've been having an ongoing battle regarding bonus points as well. For caltex in this case.

They claim that each merchant needs to be "manually" setup (even though they're listed online as participating merchants) so basically everyone needs to lodge a complaint about each individual caltex location before they'll be setup. I've had 2 out of 3 fixed so far but the third is a month and waiting.

Similar customer service experience. Virtually abused for having the nerve to tell them about the issues that they see nothing wrong with.

What the hell has happened to Westpac!!

It's those sort of times that I'm thankful I'm with the Private Bank division.
