Hi AA brains trust,

My understanding is that code share flights earn as per the ticketed airline (not the metal actually flown).

So I just want to check that the following flights would earn as per the Air Berlin table despite the final flight being on Etihad? I get that Etihad also earns miles but I'm looking for EQP as well as miles.

Cheers in advance

From the AA.com page relating to earning on AirBerlin marketed flights
Earn elite-qualifying AAdvantage miles when you fly on airberlin marketed and operated flights as well as airberlin codeshare flights operated by American Airlines.
[end]

The Etihad Airways metal flight would not earn when credited to AA. The others - assuming Air Berlin metal - would though in economy fare classes - N, Q, O, G, P, E, W - EQM are earned at the rate of 25% of flown miles and EQP at half the rate of EQM.

Hoping in your case for happy wandering

Fred

Thanks Fred.

So wouldn't earn on the Air Berlin marketed Etihad flight. Though if it was an Etihad marketed Etihad flight I'd get the miles?

Is that the same for Qantas code shares on Emirates then - no earning?

Cheers,

Ellie

While we are on codeshares does Aadvantage have the equivalent to Original routing credit?

Supposed to fly MH business KUL-BKK but flew MH codeshare on TG flight due to cancellations.

ejd711 - Etihad code and metal earns RDM only except as listed from the aa.com Etihad earning page
Earn AAdvantage miles when you fly on Etihad Airways marketed and operated flights as well as Etihad Airways codeshare flights operated by American Airlines.
...
Travel ticketed as an American Airlines marketed flight (booked as an AA flight number) and operated by Etihad Airways will earn AAdvantage base miles and elite qualifying miles, points and segments according to the AA mileage accrual chart. Beginning May 1, 2015, travel between North America and Abu Dhabi (AUH) on Etihad Airways operated and marketed flights are also eligible for AAdvantage base mile accrual.

JohnK - yes I have earned ORC with AA. When the A380 crisis shutdown occurred (Nov 10) QF cancelled some PER-HKG and I ended up on CX in the same fare class as the original QF ticket. Which would have not earned any miles with the CX fare class. Note I was EXP at the time and didn't need the miles to re-qualify. Also during that time period AA was having double mile promotions.
So my answer is - yes it is worth asking. What the answer is in the current climate? YMMV Just provide the original ticket number and the replacement number.

Thanks Fred. Worth a try. If that fails I will try with Qantas.

earning ORC with AA, yes, I am 100% from many on this issue, even on Singapore Airlines (NRT-SIN) if AA have re booked me on SX metal with SX code due to late AA arrival at NRT.
