Hi all,
I am a newbie here and not too well versed with the general travel industry regulations, so was hoping for some input from experts/frequent flyers here.
I had purchased a QANTAS ticket for route BNE-DXB-BNE in economy class via qantas website. I had done the 14hr nonstop BNE-DXB leg and found my legs weren't really comfortable in the economy class(pun intended)
I am happy to pay for an upgrade to Business class, however find Qantas being rather difficult with the entire process. If I wish to upgrade my ticket, their only option is that I pay business class for both the sectors, even the one that I flew on economy. Is this really the case as it's seems illogical to impose such a condition?
I had then considered the option of cancelling my ticket and purchasing a one way business class ticket on the same aircraft. However, the refund amount offered after cancellation fee of $200 is also seeming unjustified. I understand that the fare each way may not be exactly 50% of purchase price paid, however they are deducting almost $400 over and above the $200 cancellation fee. I would have imagined most airlines would encourage passengers upgrading to a higher class and if not waive change fees, at least make options available a lot more reasonable.
Has anyone else experienced a similar situation? What would be the best way to tackle this issue without too much $$$ being wasted?
Thank you for taking the time to read this post
