Duty Free Liquor at SIN and BKK airports

Silly question but is the restriction on purchasing duty free liquor at BKK airport and travelling to Australia still in place? Unfortunately on next trip I am returning direct from BKK

I wish the Australian government would stop assisting monopolies ripping off the travelling public.

From memory, it still is - and I agree. What difference does it make whether I purchase at BKK or SIN?? Liquor is liquor and the sooner these restrictions are lifted, the better. Wake up and smell the roses - ripping travellers off is really poor form and if they're smart (and *not* overweight), they'll buy on arrival, pack it in their luggage on departure and still come out ahead!!

I refuse to buy in SYD - the difference $$ is outrageous. Whatever happened to "free trade"?

Is the limit still 1L spirits into Thailand? Is it worth trying to bring in 2L in checked luggage? I have never ever had my luggage checked on arrival but you just never know.

I agree.

Yes, John, still the 1L limit, and I too have never been stopped, but be just my luck, that the day I bring 2L in, I will!

I transitted in SIN on Boxing Day. Below are some photos of a range of liquor prices.

I only priced liquor - and subsequently bought six bottles to bring back home into Australia, past the thieves otherwise known as First Duty Free.

Wow! The price for a bottle of Red Smirnoff is less than what one would pay for 2 watered down vodka and oranges in a pub in Brisbane City.

If only I could take 3 bottles of spirits into Thailand. Sadly though the limit is only 1. :(
