Yeah, NAB customers can choose another program but no matter what, their existing gold rewards points are going to qantas. The NAB program is closing and going direct sweep. No choice, no hanging onto existing points to transfer to DJ.

Not entirely correct (according to my memory of the updated T&Cs). If NAB do not have a QANTAS FF number for you, then they won't transfer your existing reward points to QFF. Instead a very limited set of redemption options are available (a handful of store vouchers etc)

The letter I received clearly says the gold rewards program is closing. Maybe there will be some legacy points around but not very many since they are offering everyone free QFF membership. I've been offered free membership twice.

Don't forget to watch the new Qantas "Youtube" video explaining why you should sign up for a direct credit card and/or push points across before 31 March:

YouTube - Changes to points from credit cards

BTW - does anyone know who the speaker is? Someone from Qantas? An actor? Just appears very smug all through the clip and not really a natural public speaker (although has a decent speaking voice).

Just checked the stuff I got in the last mailing, and it says that if you retain Gold Rewards points after 31st March, then the only remaining options will be:
a) credit for points (at existing rates)
b) Myer or DJs gifts cards at 7.5k/15k/30k points for $50/$100/$200

I agree, most people will choose to either redeem before hand, or transfer to QFF

I'm quickly lossing faith in NAB. I've had to call them 2 or 3 times to tell them my AFF number. The points were supposed to be auto transferred yesterday. But nothing. Looks like another call having to deal with their new voice (non-)response system. :(

Are AFF now a nab partner? Maybe that's why you're having trouble ..... sorry I just couldn't resist :)

I don't like QF's game more than any one else on this forum, but going full on Velocity isn't a solution that would work for me. I will most probably keep points in my MR account for my hotel programs.

Dont forget SQ and VS who have reasonable redemption and transfer rates with Amex MR.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I've got a Suncorp Clear Options card and tried transferring 120K points across online. It led me right through the whole process and told me I'd been successful in the end. All the way through there was this little note in the corner of the screen which said "Only Premium Rewards members (or WTTE) can transfer points to QFF". I wasn't sure what scheme I was on but as it let me do it I thought "Okay I must be Premium". Got an email a few minutes later saying my points transfer was 'unsuccessful' as I wasn't a Premium member!

Apparently I can upgrade for $45. Might sit on this for a few weeks in case of sweeteners.

I'd probably just leave the points there but with the planned family trip in September to LAX and YVR I might need to points to pay for two of the tickets. Then again with the deals floating around I might not need to.

In the end he indicated that it would be probably worth my while to wait until the final week or two to transfer points to see what comes up.

Thanks... will be interesting to see if this eventuates...!

Well I just got my comeuppance from Suncorp. Apparently if I upgrade to Premium Rewards now I can only convert the new points to QFF not the pile I've got. I'm sure they've moved the goalposts on this as I have converted points in the distant past. Might be an unreliable memoir though as I have a CBA MC as well and I could be thinking of that.

So now I've got all these points I can't use towards the goal of the Canada trip. Looks like Air Canada will win out over Qantas.

Got 20 000 points on the MC, big woop.

Today I checked Travel Plus ( CBA ) for a Bris-Melb return flight.
"$345.71 or 54,018 points avg per person"
Qantas was $300 or 24,000 points.

Still confused as to what final deciscion I will make for all my cards.( Plat Visa and Mcard and Amex Corporate)
My annual card spend is approx $600,000 so there is room for 4 cards.
Will also consider getting an Emirates card as I can divert much of my spend to this card.
