Has anyone used the Dubai Connect service offered by QF yet?

In mid May I am travelling J class from MEL to CPH via DXB and have a 9 hour layover each way.

I'm not sure whether I should take up this service since the hotels offered are usually outside DXB and it would involve going through immigration and customs. Furthermore a friend who was recently through DXB advised that the queues at DXB are extremely long and I don't really want the hassles.

Would it be better for me to book a room at the Dubai International Hotel instead which is within the terminal?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I was in transit in DXB last week and asked the transfer desk about Dubai Connect as I'm booked on it for another trip in August (HOT! HOT! HOT!). They mentioned that it's usually at Copthorne for Y class but I didn't enquire about J class... You mentioned it will be your 1st time there so perhaps it's worthwhile to check it out, depending in what time your flights arrive/depart?

QF9 arrives into DXB at 23:25 and the CPH flight departs next morning at 8:30.
On the return the flight arrives into DBX at 23:15 and then I'm on QF10 the next morning at 9:50.

So not much time to check out DXB.

I'll give QF a call to find out which hotel they use for J class.

I flew EK 407 (on a QF codeshare) and it arrives DXB at 5.25 am in the morning which would suit your connection. Can you change your flight?

Ok will check with TA but I think there was a $600+ price difference.
It was cheaper on non-codeshare flights.
