Need some advice and help.

My Dad will be flying into Dubai from ATH in Y and arrives into Dubai at 9:30pm at night. His next flight from DXB-ADL in F doesn't leave until 2am, but not the following day but a day later (due to FF seat availability) ie. 28 1/2 hours later. He doesn't want to go into the city as he completing a very long trip and want to stay in the airport until his flight back.

- Since he is not departing within a 24 hour period I'm assuming he can't check his lounge through to ADL and will need to collect his luggage? If so does he have to go through customs and immigration as he wants to use the Dubai Airport Hotel in Terminal 3 if possible to get sleep that night. That hotel states if you go through immigration you can't check into the hotel until 3 before you flight which is useless-

Passengers are strongly advised not to pass through Immigration and Customs and exit the Terminal as they will be denied access to the Hotel until 3 hours prior to their ongoing flight’s departure time.

- Or will he need to stay at a Hotel near the airport?

- If he can stay in the transit area at stay at the Hotel can he visit the First Class lounge throughout the day before his flight (ie for breakfast, Lunch) before checking out of the Airport Hotel and just staying in the lounge before departure?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

There are a number of good hotels within 5 minutes of the airport without going into the city, so don't think I'd be restricting myself to the airport hotel only. Given I left the airport without problems for a 6 hour stopover for a 28 hour stopover I'd definitely be considering this. I think the airline itself should have some options available.

As you say, it is a 28 hr stop-over, so his bags will not be able to be checked through, so he'll have to collect them, and go through immigration to get to them. He'll be land side in Dubai. Even if he could use the hotel, I doubt that they'll let him check-in to the flight +24 hrs prior to the flight, although with EK (I assume) in First, it might be possible.

A hotel close to the airport would be the go. Most of them will have shuttles from and to the airport (if he's on EK to ADL they will send a limo) and frankly will be more pleasant to spend a day at if he doesn't want to go out.
