Hi guys,

My Status Credits expired 31 Oct, with me falling several hundred points short of retaining Gold. I had every expectation of dropping back to Silver, though I have maintained SG for a few years straight.

When I checked today, it still has me as Gold, with the summary page saying
"Status Credits earned since 1 Nov 2010;
Additional Status credits required by 31 Oct 2011 to retain Gold" etc.
But the kicker is that it still says
"Status reassessment will occur: 31 Oct 2010"

I have some pretty solid travel planned for next year, and would love to have maintained SG - so I'm really keen to see if I got lucky and they somehow gifted me another year. Unlike some previous posters, I never received an email asking about my future travel plans.

How long does it usually take? When I went from PS to SG a few years back it was updated almost immediately online.

Cheers

Qantas usually leave you at the higher status for three or four days after the end of the year.

They might still offer you lounge access for a couple months and discounted rates for the Qantas Club, but unless your account definitely indicates you’re Gold, you’ll be dropped down.

FYI - my status dropped today to Qantas Club Silver, 4 days after the expiry. With QC to expire 31 Jan 2011, 3 months after expiry.

Called Qantas, and apparently when/if I do decide to pay for QC I don't have to pay the $200 joining fee, as I was technically regarded as a Qantas Club member even though I had never actually paid for it. Which definitely does tip the scales slightly towards joining.

Check out the AFF membership scheme for the QP, its going to be worth you transferring to that!

Thanks mate. I'm able to get corporate rates through work which works out ok, plus salary sacrifice it so it turns out to be quite reasonable if I go for say a 4 year deal.
