DPS-BKK, on TG, upgraded with noodles, love it

Hi, I had one of the extra cheap V fares off the net, which cannot be upgraded, so I was prepared for a couple of hours with Dan Brown and had the socks and earphones ready. Checking in, I went for an upgrade, and without blinking, came back with 2.5m rupiah. Love it when you can turn something around so cheaply, guess we all love a bargain, but not only did I score a business upgrade for $300 but dear old Thai threw on a 772. Talking to the QF guys, there are still cheap QF business tickets for $3500 out of HKG. I will check it out and let you know, flyertalk maybe out for longer than we thought, regards bkkrop

I assume that's $3500 in AUD rather than HKD?

There are similarly very good J fares with CX and QF out of ICN. Just booked ICN-xHKG-xSYD-MEL for myself and the other half for $1711 each all in. They got ticketed as CX fares as our first segment is on CX but allows most travel on QF (rest of the itinerary is all QF) - flexible J bucket fare. I think the QF fare itself is a bit higher. There are also excellent BA Club World fares out of LHR but they book into I.

Any info on similar fares out of HKG much appreciated.

Hi QF009, that is a cracker of a fare, BA/QF have a First companion fare out of BKK for 86000baht++ to SYD/MEL, asking at the moment what's avail out of HKG and willadvise if it comes through. Forever being told about the ICN fares, must follow them up. Jusr got some TG for Jan/Feb2010 bkk-mel-bkk for AU2350 but I am restricted to pulling out of Bangkok on the eight oclock flifht.

Very good! :shock: The I fares are very attractive too. Will keep in mind for when the W BKK is open. The only hiccup is that the fare has to be sold in Thailand, Laos or Cambodia (I suppose if this is booked on qantas.com or ba.com they'd want credit card verification of some sort?) - however it shouldn't be that difficult finding a decent TA in BKK.

No such SITI restrictions on ex-ICN fares.

I got the same fare ex ICN on CX! But it was AUD1900 with the exchange rate a few months ago.

I didn't realise I could have paid a bit more for QF - but difficult choice - status bonus miles on QF vs CX flat beds. I can only sleep flat!
