Downgrade of PC status after Velocity complimentary upgrade

HI Platinum Status gone already!

Well that was a complete waste of time. I took the HI Platinum option when I got my DJ Platinum. I lost out on heaps of points because the platinum upgrade (from my existing earned Gold) took place right before a trip posted so I missed out on the bonus points for staying at multiple property types (the platinum upgrade changes your earning preference to DJ vs PC, thereby invalidating the promotion).

Even worse, I logged into my PC account today and the first thing I noticed was that my earning preference had reverted to DJ .. the second thing I noticed was that my status is back to Gold.

So in the end I only received 3 months of Platinum and missed out on several thousand PC points

The multiplier should still work, just miles instead of PC club points, it has not been paid yet and is due by month end.

Really, when I've earnt points in one property type and miles in the other? I remember reading the T&Cs and thinking I was screwed, guess I'll wait and see.

Still a bummer that the "complimentary Platinum" only lasted 3 months! You'd be annoyed if you applied in December ...

I was under the impression that apart from the Hilton Platinum membership, there was a minimum of twelve months.

Kindly be advised that you can switch earning preference towards the 80,000 Bonus Points or 16,000 Bonus Miles Promotion. Please note, however; that the system will base the maximum bonus points or bonus miles to your earning preference the time that you enrolled to the offer and during the completion of your stays. For example, if your earning preference is set to points, then you can only qualify to earn the maximum bonus points during the promotion period.

That was my impression as well. Seems not to be the case though.

Interesting that the status has changed this early in the year.

Generally with PC status the status last until end of February.

The TOS on the velocity website say at least 6 month for the HI club I think - I would call Velocity and ask them about it.

Just checked my IH membership and I too have been downgraded to Gold in just 4 months, despite staying with them several times over the past few months.

Lost me, should have gone hilton.

As Gold Velocity member I applied for Gold Priority Club membership during the promotion.

As I already had gold PC (expiring) I assumed it would extend it but now find I am back to Club.

General all round stuff up or have some of us been stung?

Anyone been downgraded with Hilton status?

I haven't made my choice yet... I'm already Gold with PC... so if i can get Diamond for 2012 with Hilton, then Gold in 2013, I'd be quite happy!

On my comped Hilton Diamond card it says valid to 03/2013.

Add another disappointed member! After reading the thread logged on to PC to find I had been downgraded to Gold.

In addition to only having a few months of Plat, as it took so long for the match to come through, after applying 31 August, the 3 week trip I took in September/October all at IHG hotels posted at club level, only to be comped Plat a few weeks after returning.

Would be interested to hear the response DSFlyer.

Just called Virgin and they advised me that it should be for 12 months so they gave me the IHG Sydney number for them to sort out the issue

And this has been part of the problem with these elite memberships - VA have hand balled it to the Hotels to fix rather than owning the problem themselves.

Last year in September I received the complimentary PC Gold upgrade after the Status Match that Velocity did with Qantas - but when I logged into my PC account this week I noticed that the gold status had been deleted and I was back to just Club membership. I was surprised because I thought the upgrade to Gold was for 12 months. I was willing to give them a go - but as I'm platinum A|Club I didn't want to lose that and have nothing.

Anyway, I rang PC today and they have reinstated the gold status until the end of 2012 which was great.

I tried for a status match with A|Club but they said it's not a competitor program!! That was a bit weird!

Any thoughts on how to get them to match with A|Club?
