Double stays for rest of 2017

Perhaps I am the only one unaware but all stays in December seem to be providing double qualifying stays.

Was discussing with a friend my demise from Diamond to Gold then he mentioned all stays until the end of the year are doubled for status requal purposes for 2018. Sure enough, my 3 stays in December so far show a double credit at the bottom of the points activity. Originally, I would have needed 10 more for diamond but now only need 6 which is effectively 3 with this double promotion.

I qualify purely on stays so concede not so helpful for those qualifying on nights or points but thought would add this in case others are on the margins of the next status level.

Just to update, this may be targeted. My past two stays (since the above post) have credited as single qualifying stays, not double.

I'm now thinking it may be targeted as well as friends in APAC haven't had this offer applied either.

As a data point I'm a marginal diamond doing all stays in Europe.

I think it was targeted.
I got an email in early November as a Gold on 10stays/ 10 nights.

I have subsequently added 10 1-night stays. Just waiting for last stay to post

I had this last year and never received any messages from HH with the first double stay credit beginning of October. Not sure what triggers it and why they do not always send an email but at least it is automatically applied to your account.
