Another Velocity Status extension - looks aimed at those who missed the additional year - this is targeted so only for people who get the email....

Details...

We want to make sure you retain your Status and continue to enjoy the benefits and privileges that go with it. That’s why we are offering to extend Status for up to a further 12 months*.

All you need to do is complete at least one of the below activities by 22 May 2022 to lock in your Status. If you don’t act, then your current Status will end upon your next review date.

How to lock in your Status*
  • Fly one fight with Virgin Australia, including Reward Seats booked with Points*
Book your next flight across the Virgin Australia network and fly when it suits you. You will not need to complete your flight by 22 May 2022
  • Earn a total of 5,000 Velocity Points, transacting across any number of Velocity partners*
Whether you earn Points when filling up your car at 7Eleven, earn with Flybys or earn on your next purchase on the Velocity Rewards store – any transaction will count, as long as you earn a total of 5,000 Points and this needs to reflect in your MyVelocity account before 22 May 2022.
  • If you’re a Velocity Points earning credit card holder, earn any number of Points with your card*
Already earning Points with a Velocity earning credit card? Simply use on your next purchase.
Seems pretty simple.

Thanks @Legoman for the heads up!

Earn with FlyBuys? Does this mean transferring points from FlyBuys to Velocity?

Thanks

I guess so...

2) Earn a total of 5,000 Velocity Points by transacting across any number of Velocity Partners in the Velocity Program. To qualify for the Status extension all 5,000 Points must be credited into your Velocity account by 22 May 2022. Depending on the Partner you transact with, there may be a difference in the time it takes for the Points being credited into your account. Please view the relevant Partner pages on our website. Points earned by being a recipient of a family Points Pooling account or Points received from a Points transfer do not count towards this offer.

@Brizz thanks for posting this! Seeing this thread reminded me that I received some email from Velocity today and just deleted it. Went through my trash and yes, I'm eligible.

So it would seem transferring enough from either FlyBuys or Amex points to earn 5k VA points will do it. Too easy!

I received the offer. At first I thought I’d missed something on AFF!

Anyway, I’m in the process of transferring points from e-Rewards to VFF to see if that works. Due to daily limits, it’ll take three transfers but at $75 points value - that’s pretty good value to extend my Gold status!

I would guess this offer will only be targeted at those who haven’t already been extended to 28 Feb 23 by virtue of the earlier ‘book a flight’ promo.

Nil received in the Scarlett household and we’ve all been extended recently to that Feb 23 date.

I'm VA gold from some 3 month status match/try gold promo or something early on during Covid. I haven't touched VA since yet received this offer.

I'm in a similar situation, although I do have enough flights booked to retain Gold (haven't flown any yet).

I didn't get the offer, perhaps because they noticed my bookings and thought I might cancel some of them if they sent me the offer.

They would have been correct in this thinking.

Dang. Turns out it’s not a daily limit but a 30 day limit on transfers from e-Rewards to VFF! I was wondering why my e-Rewards account was still showing “Pending” for a redemption last Friday, the 11th. Further attempts to transfer more were throwing up errors and warnings on “temporary limits”.

But I just noticed the 2000 VFF points have posted with an effective date of 11 Mar. I went back to transfer more points and saw the fine print on 30 day limits 😔 But I can still make the 22 May cut with two more max redemptions (6000 -> 2000), albeit *a lot* slower than i thought….

I‘m still planning on making a VA flight booking to be certain to get the extension, but the points option is nice insurance. Maybe I’ll combine that flight with my QFF status-keeper booking!

As an aside, anyone else sitting on a stash of e-Rewards points, it might pay to start converting them if you have a particular use/redemption in mind. The 30 day rule may well apply to other programs. In the past, I’ve just chucked a few points across to keep various loyalty programs alive - never tried to convert large multiple chunks before…

I did not receive a status extension offer from VA, but I decided to transfer Flybuys points to get 5000 Velocity points anyway to see if it triggers status extension.

Today I received the following email:

Your Gold Status will be extended

We are excited to let you know that we will extend your Gold Status membership for an additional 12 months on 1 June 2022.*

Sit back and relax, there’s nothing more for you to do except continue to enjoy your Status benefits. In the meantime, keep track of your membership in your My Velocity Account and the Velocity app.

We look forward to welcoming you onboard your next Virgin Australia flight.

I've dropped back to Silver status over the past couple of years, have only made one domestic trip (May 2021) in that time, and have managed to hang on to Silver only due to the various status extensions. Any SCs earned have been pooled to Mr Jurahn to help keep him at Gold. Review date of the most recent extension is 31 May. Today I received this from VFF:

We are excited to let you know that we will extend your Silver Status membership for an additional 12 months on 1 June 2022.*

Sit back and relax, there’s nothing more for you to do except continue to enjoy your Status benefits. In the meantime, keep track of your membership in your My Velocity account and the Velocity App.

I was quite surprised, no requirements to meet, nothing to do to get the extension, and I haven't done anything such as transferring Flybuys points - I do have a HBA-CBR return trip in J booked for June, so maybe they've looked at that?

Very pleased as it takes the pressure off and maybe I can work my way back to Gold during that time.

I got one of these today extending my Gold status from 1 Jul 2022 to 30 Jun 2023.

Unfortunately they seem to have missed the point that I already have over 700 SC's this membership year, and have enough bookings to become Plat next month.

So really not very helpful!

I got this email today as well (and didn't recently transfer any points from flybuys).

My current review date is 28 May 2022 and I have already earned more than enough status credits to renew Gold until 28 May 2023. So this generous extension now gives me an extra 3 days of Gold. Whoop-de-doo!

Same here, review date 28 May 2022, 164 Status Credits short to maintain gold.
Happy not drop down to Silver. Don't fly Virgin enough to keep gold normally.

Hmmm...I transferred so I earnt 5k points. My expiry for gold in June hasn't moved yet. I wonder if I should be concerned?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Haven't had an email with the offer, 18 July review date. Will keep an eye out and potentially try the flybuys transfer; unfortunately cashed in some fb$ recently so need a few more before hitting 10k to send 5k over.
