Hi All,

I've been away for a while yet something strange happened tonight....

I have a series of flights from DFW to BNE (SYD) then to BNE-MEL-ADL-PER-SYD before we do SYD-HKG-SYD and then SYD-DFW. We used our truck load of points to upgrade the domestic legs from Red-E-Deals to J and the international stuff from PE to J.

I got a couple of time changes for the International legs, nothing serious. So I logged in to my account to accept the changes and just for laughs checked my activity statement. Wow. All the domestic legs have been deducted. So, check my bookings, and yes, all domestic upgrades approved, 3 MONTHS in advance!!!!

Selected new seats in J, all confirmed.

Must say I am really shocked that all the domestic stuff cleared this early. Anyone else had this experience?

Were the old number of points for said upgrades deducted, or the new higher amount? If it's the latter, the cynic in me suggests that it was pre planned by QF...

Old level of points, happened on 16th & 22nd Dec 2013 (it's been that long since I last checked!)

Howdy. I've had confirmed domestic upgrades a number of times at the time of booking or upgrade request. So long as there is available inventory in the 'U' fare bucket that it draws from, then it should lock it in there and then. This is not necessarily true (or at least it wasn't when I last tried) where the domestic segment is part of a continuing international flight (e.g. a request to upgrade on QF8 from BNE-SYD), but would probably still occur where it connects from an international itinerary to a regular domestic flight segment. Perhaps you were actually confirmed immediately at the time of request, but didn't notice until later? The points generally don't deduct immediately, but the confirmation should show right away.

Cheers.
