Has anyone else noticed that QR are now running a 777-300ER on QR901 out of PER with the old business class as opposed to the A350-1000?

Was booked to fly q-suites in 2 weeks to europe, and chose to route specifically via Perth from Sydney just for the Qsuite cabin however am super disappointed that I now get some cough cabin which doesn't even give me direct aisle access on a 12 hour flight. Really poor form from QR - the question is more why QR has done this? Is Perth no longer an important market for them or is this a seasonal change?

Same thing happened to all Adelaide flights. Are you sure they still aren't Q suites though? Ours is.

Yep, just checked the seat map then, this is what's showing. They have also removed the mention of Perth being a city with Q-suites from the Qatar website. It only now says Sydney and Adelaide.

To make things worse, I have not got any email offering to move to a flight with qsuite which I understand is their policy. The only window seat left in J on the flight is one with a missing window... Absolutely shocking service

That sucks. Call them. They answer pretty quickly. Although that link states the 350 for Adelaide which I know is wrong. I think Brisbane got it.

Yeah I'll try. Only issue is I booked through Qantas - not sure if they will honour Q-suite policy if it's through another airline, and not sure how Qatar would be able to change my flights in this case.

Thanks for this as I have been looking at these flights from Perth. I assumed that if they didn't have the Q Suites they would still have the perfectly good 4 across J layout. I didn't realise that they had any of the old 6 across fitouts still flying.

As expected, called Qatar and they just diverted to Qantas. Just said it's not a qatar ticket and therefore cannot change anything. Will try my luck with Qantas now and see if they can put in a request with Qatar to put me onto a Qsuite flight.

Qantas can't do anything either as there are no seats available on flights on any Qsuite products on that day, the call operator didn't seem to know what a qsuite product is either and required some explaining.

Honestly find it ridiculously that supposedly the best airline in the world has angled lie flat seats on a nearly 12 hour flight and refuse to do anything about it?

I feel your pain. I've been in the same situation with QR. This is the biggest downside with them. They have so many different J products. QR told me there is nothing they can do as I booked with QF and QF couldn't move me to another flight as there were no award seats.

If you've paid with cash, then you can always just cancel and rebook, wearing whatever penalty that might be.

Take some consolation though. The seats aren't angled. In fact, they're pretty comfortable still. I've had an excellent sleep on that product. Sure' it's not Q suite, but for an overnight flight where you're likely to eat and then go to sleep, it's not bad. They're still much better than the old QF droopy J seats.

Can you cancel easily?

Unfortunately, it can happen on any route, at any time, one flight or a whole route. As @Daver6 says, its the downside to flying QR. You set your heart on a great superior product, and it gets swapped out. :( I've recorded such in several of my TRs - I always try to fly QR.

Alas, yes. Its even on their web site describing what might happen if your QS equipment gets swapped out.

Which is why I've asked my TA to get the ticket issued on QR paper for an upcoming trip, notwithstanding it starts with a QF connecting flight. Was your a QFF points redemption - is that why its a Qantas ticket?

To be fair, although it sucks, equipment changes do occur and its more likely in this period.

Just checked with my TA for a trip in November. On my dates, ADL-DOH is Qsuites, but DOH-ADL 2 weeks later is not. So I'm returning to MEL which she thinks will always get QSuites priority.

Maybe it depends on whether it connects through to Auckland. Additionally Qatar announced over the weekend that the flights are going to increase in number from current 3 to 5 from July onwards and likely that's another factor.

Have just read that Qatar are in a tussle with Airbus over their A350 and unexpected wear causing many A350s with Qsuites to be grounded. Has been ongoing for 6 months.

This is the issue when you have a fleet that has inconsistent products. Sure the Qantas J seat may not be as good as Qsuites, but at least I know what I'm going to get what I fly long haul.

I'll take the risk having been on both. Interesting re Q suite issues. So SQ et al would be having the same issues then.

Not sure if affecting SQ A350s. Seems to be isolated with Qatar's A350's at the moment causing a v long legal battle.

Gosh. That's quite a time line! Thanks for the info.

Have another go with QF ask them to see if QR will release a seat (QF will have to “manually” request from QR no just look at screen of available seats).
