DOH-MEL-ADL redemption but want to get off at MEL!

Hello. I’ve been trawling for information but I can’t find anything. Basically, I’ll be flying this weird leg Doha to Adelaide via Melbourne. I live in Melbourne and will have just hand luggage. Surely I can just walk out of there with my hand luggage. It’s not a prison after all. What are they going to do? Arrest me?

Were you able to get out of Melbourne airport? It would be great if you could share what you did

I've just booked a DOH-MEL-ADL J redemption on Velocity, without realising that it's on the same plane, involving a 7+ hour technical layover in MEL from 10.30pm until 5.40am the following morning where I want to just get off and nix my last segment to ADL!

There are no redemptions available to MEL otherwise on the days that I want.

So is it possible for me to get off at MEL without facing severe negative consequences? Otherwise should I cancel the flight and look for other options - such as a whY redemption?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
