I'm sure most of us on AFF live by the mantra "Why fly direct when you can connect!".
How what toll does that take on loved ones ?

Does your other-half love the thrill of lounge/sc/points chasing as much as you do ?

No she doesn't but she understands/tollerates/accepts -

1. More points = more travelling and/or flying non-Y
2. More SCs = more comfort

She does enjoy travelling though.

Mrssimongr hates flying... Although after travelling in J on CX (coffins) and F on BA she doesn't think it is as bad as she thought... Status runs though are not an option.

Mrsozmile has done one SC run with me and was ready to kill me towards the last couple of flights :) maybe doing SYD-ADL-BNE-MEL-SYD-NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE-SYD in 4 days was not well thought through... She does like her WP card though

I don't have a partner

Makes life so easy in many ways....half the cost, half the miles spent...:D

Although my Mum likes flying & travelling, she thinks I'm completely nuts. Which is fair, even I think I'm round the bend sometimes. :D

My partner likes the being there, not the getting there. I ruined it for all time with a KUL-SIN trip which just happened to go KUL-HKG-NRT-SIN. I may have got away with it until the CX check-in lady in KUL asked if I was crazy.

Chilli doesn’t seem to mind and is always happy to see me when I get back, often bringing a toy, showing just how happy she is! :)

I'm actively encouraged to travel more in my house. I think the answer is yes to the question though. Travel is disliked equally!

My +1 LOVES travel.......

He just doesn't love AFF!! He says I spend too much time on here and that flying somewhere for "drinks" is a bit much. Also... He INSISTS on working, which means his free time is way more limited than mine. He doesn't HAVE to work..... It's just how he is.

We don't do any status runs, and usually we will take a direct flight as SC's/FF points are not an issue for either of us.

He is very much like me in the sense that we probably don't maximise our points opportunities. If we want to go somewhere or do something... We just do it.

MrsVitagen doesn't understand why WP was soo important for me to fly specially over east for it, she only says 'I trust you know what you are doing'.

She doesn't have a problem with me going, just that she's not too keen on the idea of her sitting on a plane for the sake of SCs.

We both love traveling though and she's a great traveling companion!

Shrek loves travel. He isn't into AFF but is quite happy to pick up things second hand from me.
He has never done a SC run, wouldn't fly JQ to go to the F Lounge ( we at least agree on that one), and is starting to realise that Amex is his friend.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

My +1 acts like a multi when it comes to QF points and would quite readily use 200k or more points on a one way between PER and the east or for a vice versa.
Mrscove just loves QF and loves the Platinum tags. She loves the getting there and as with others the idea of a status run really would have her thinking her partner was now totally nuts.
We did a SYD-MEL-PER and she didn't pick up what I was doing.
Getting to London and Los Angeles are two of her favourites once the jet lag stops.

I have to compromise ... limiting the legs per day... Sigh. :)
Of course I could do my own status run.

Unfortunately....yes! I retired 4+ years ago after spending 9 years commuting weekly from Adelaide to the east coast. I've probably had about a dozen flights since I retired and if I never see the inside of an aircraft again, it will not bother me. Mrs Ikara on the other hand can't sit still and can't wait to get her hands on my million plus points. We'll probably do a swansong flight to the Battlefields of France for an Anzac Day and that will do me.

My +1 isn't really in the loop so far as airline points earn and burn goes. He is far more than anything clued up on the credit card points. We generally try to fly direct than waste time connecting just to get points - my time is worth more than points and so is his.

He comes along to the occasional AFF catchup though. If I make it to the Gold Coast thing, he will be coming with.

He likes to travel, and might be able to put up with a SC run, but I wouldn't do it with Little Miss 5 in tow. And almost anywhere we two go, it's we three. Mr Katie is about to drop down to PS from SG at the end of June. But Little Miss is still SG til end of Jan, so she can guest him into lounges. ;)

My wife has only done two trips with me; last year a holiday to Fiji (flights and accommodation paid using points) which we both enjoyed. The other trip was 2 years ago to the USA, accompanied by our 15 y.o. daughter.

I had already had 3 visits to the US in the 5 months prior to the trip, so I knew what to expect.

We flew ADL-SYD-LAX-DEN-OMA straight through, and both of them were well over flying by the time we got to DEN. :)
Our return flight a couple of weeks later was IAD-DFW-LAX-SYD-ADL straight through, and they were already groaning by the time we got to LAX.

They thought I was totally crazy when a week after arriving home I was back on a plane to PIT, SFO & SAN for back to back meetings.

For some reason now they have no interest in accompanying me on any of my flights...........

Mrs amaroo, is more a NO than a YES.

Although, I have convinced her to do one SC run (also my first) back in February, BNE-SYD-AKL-SYD-BNE......this got her to WP for the first time. I think the Flounge was the clincher;) But the excitement factor fell off a cliff when she found out the departure time for the flight back from AKL, QF50 - 6.15am;)

She's not all that impressed with my interest in AFF:!: This may be down to the fact that I've been banging on about the ATO payments by CC thread. As a Chartered Accountant she is the family expert on all things ATO & didn't believe the ATO accepted CC. When I proved her wrong with the first big whack on the Amex, the response & look I received was a little cold:shock: A few tax payments later - she is now busy working on what flights we should spend those points on;)

My kids (11 & 9) are the ones that get the FF thing & can't understand why they can't do status runs. They are both sitting on 960 SC with 5 months left in their year to make WP....should have seen their faces when I told them that mum & dad are heading for NZ over the w'end so that mummy can make platinum:shock:
